OurĀ blockbusterĀ tour, the Ring of Kerry trip will take you on a magical journey through Irelandās famous Kingdom. You will experience the extremes of the Wild Atlantic Way, the epic beauty of Irelandās highest mountain ranges and the vibrant buzz of bustling Killarney town.
Pickup from St Patricks Quay, Victorian Quarter, Cork @ 8.45am
Ready to step back in time? First stop on our route is the Kerry Bog Village, a super photogenic folk village showcasing traditional Irish rural life. (Admission fee of ā¬7.00 per adult paid on entry). Here, you can wander through postcard thatched cottages, visit a replica traditional farmstead or even meet the villageās resident Irish wolfhounds! Also, we know itās only 11am but itās probably whiskey oāclock somewhere in the world – why not indulge in a delicious Irish coffee next door at the Red Fox Inn?
From Glenbeigh, we wind around the fringe of the Iveragh Peninsula, kissing the coast of Irelandās most beautiful coastline. Here, youāll feel like youāre on the edge of Europeā¦and you really are! Our next stops come at Waterville and Coomakista, two of Kerryās most scenic spots (donāt believe us?), where panoramic views stretch from the mountains to the sea. Zoom out to the ocean and youāll see the Skellig Islands, bursting out of the Atlantic like Celtic pyramids. The islands famously featured in the recent Star Wars movie: this is a real case of lights, camera, Instagram!
Back on the coach, our journey leaves the crashing Atlantic towards the sheltered waters of Kenmare Bay. The gorgeous village and foodie heaven of Sneem is our next pitstop for a delicious local lunch. Fancy a taste of Kerry? How about some traditional bacon and cabbage from D OāSheaās traditional pub or some fresh fish and chips from The Village Kitchen?
From Sneem, buckle up and prepare yourself for one of the most dramatic drives in Europe. Verging deep into the MacGillycuddy’s Reek mountains and the moody Black Valley, myriad scenic viewpoints dot our route: thereās Mollās Gap mountain pass, Ladies View lookout (a favourite spot of Queen Victoria) and yes, even a Leprechaun crossing. Along the shores of Lough Leane, weāll drive through a real-life emerald forest as the woodlands of Irelandās last native oak trees filter past us. Finally, we arrive in Irelandās capital of the great outdoors, stunning Killarney! The clip clop of traditional jarveys (horses and carts) and live music echo around as you get the chance to wander the townās lively streets. Maybe grab a gelato from Murphy’s Ice-cream or dust off your Mastercard at the woollen mills!
We leave the Kingdom and cross the county border, returning back to Cork City in the evening. We know youāll have had a day to remember. If youāre hungry for more adventure, be sure to ask our driver about one of our other bus tours!
